Ways to Pray the Rosary Every Day

During the first Marian apparition at Fatima in 1917, one of Our Lady’s messages was a call to pray the Rosary daily for world peace and an end to World War I. A daily devotion to the Rosary has since spread throughout the Church and is still popular today.

If you don’t think you have time to pray the Rosary every day, here are some creative ways to incorporate this powerful prayer into your busy schedule:

  • Pray single decades of the Rosary throughout the day whenever you have five minutes. A decade consists of one mystery with its accompanying prayers: 1 Our Father, 10 Hail Marys, 1 Glory Be.*
  • Pray the Rosary while going for a walk or a jog.
  • Keep a set of Rosary beads in your purse or bag, in your car, and on your desk so you can pray on the go (or use your fingers to keep track of the Hail Marys).
  • Invite a friend or loved one to pray the Rosary with you, whether in person or on the phone. This will provide motivation and accountability to make time to pray!
  • Stream a Rosary video anytime that works for your schedule, and if you need to, hit the pause button and resume your prayer later.

Don’t be daunted by the length of the Rosary—praying just a decade of the Rosary devoutly is better than rushing through the entire prayer halfheartedly (or not praying at all). Start small, be consistent, and gradually build your habit of praying the Rosary every day.

*At the end of each decade, it’s common to include a prayer requested by Our Lady of Fatima: O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell; lead all souls to Heaven, especially those who have most need of your mercy.

The First Glorious Mystery of the Rosary: The Resurrection

“After the sabbath, as the first day of the week was dawning, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb. And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, approached, rolled back the stone, and sat upon it. His appearance was like lightning and his clothing was white as snow. The guards were shaken with fear of him and became like dead men. Then the angel said to the women in reply, ‘Do not be afraid! I know that you are seeking Jesus the crucified. He is not here, for he has been raised just as he said.’”

The Second Glorious Mystery of the Rosary: The Ascension

“When they had gathered together they asked him, ‘Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?’ He answered them, ‘It is not for you to know the times or seasons that the Father has established by his own authority. But you will receive power when the holy Spirit comes upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, throughout Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.’ When he had said this, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him from their sight.”

The Third Glorious Mystery of the Rosary: The Descent of the Holy Spirit

“When the time for Pentecost was fulfilled, they were all in one place together. And suddenly there came from the sky a noise like a strong driving wind, and it filled the entire house in which they were. Then there appeared to them tongues as of fire, which parted and came to rest on each one of them. And they were all filled with the holy Spirit and began to speak in different tongues, as the Spirit enabled them to proclaim.”

The Fifth Glorious Mystery of the Rosary: The Coronation of Mary

“A great sign appeared in the sky, a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars…. She gave birth to a son, a male child, destined to rule all the nations with an iron rod.* Her child was caught up to God and his throne.”
